I had to mention this version of the PENN SLAMMER IV 5500 BAILLESS in a different section due to its specific design for fishing in the surf, on mud banks, of the jetties. The toughness, smoothless and reliability of this reel can’t be understated, but with the bailless design, this reel also eliminates many wind knots resulting in fewer tangles and ensures quicker line engagement making it perfect for surfcasting and targeting aggressive species. Additionally, this reel is especially great for jetty fishalots and rockhoppers as the less external pieces you have to your gear, the less likely you are to damage it. Eliminating the bail is simply one less thing to worry about in an already impressively strong and reliable reel. And since this is the advanced fishalot section, knowing how to cast and work the bailess reel will be ideal when facing rough windy conditions on those slippery and hazardous rocks by reducing wind knots and tangles so you can focus on keeping safe in the harsh environment around you and catching fish!!
